Are you willing to try just one more time?

When I was in grade school, I heard the “old people” talk about my being in the awkward age of my life. (OLD PEOPLE being those past 30.) 

Now that I am 85 plus, I am aware that the real “AWKWARD AGE” is any time between birth and death.

Being awkward isn't so bad if you realize that you have the opportunity of being a little better today than you were yesterday.

SO FOR TODAY:

I will spend time in prayer to God.  Yes, I realize that I’m awkward in talking to HIM but He understands and listens anyway.

I am going to try to make my little part of the world a little better. Yes, I know that I've made lots of mistakes.  BUT IF I TRY TODAY, I JUST MIGHT DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR SOMEONE ANYWAY! 

What have you done TODAY?

The winner in life is the person who continues to develop her/his talents and abilities.  The winner is the person who wants to be better today than yesterday.

EACH OF US HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A WINNER.

REMEMBER:  If what I did yesterday still looks big to me, I probably haven’t done much TODAY.  

WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?

Before either of us complains about life being unfair…

CONSIDER THE CHALLENGE OF BEN FRANKLIN:

He was the oldest signer of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.

He achieved fame in 21 lines of endeavor.

He was a philosopher, statesman, man of letters, journalist, author, essayist, printer, publisher, economist, scientist, linguist, inventor, humanitarian, historian and mathematician.

HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF ONLY TWO YEARS OF FORMAL EDUCATION!

Finger Prints & HEART PRINTS

Wherever we go today, we leave “fingerprints” on everything we touch.  So our fingerprints identify our geographical locations of the day.

We also have the opportunity TODAY to leave “Heartprints” on each person that we contact.  Let us resolve that we will leave “Heartprints” of compassion, understanding and love.

A PRAYER…

“Lord, we ask for wisdom that with sincerity we will touch hearts as your instruments to inspire and to encourage.  May our “Heartprints” be recognized as being in Your direction and honor.  Through Christ.  Amen.

To make this a BETTER DAY, remember:

Created in the image of God, you and I have the opportunity to discipline ourselves to careful thinking… to distinguish between good and evil… and with the grace and forgiveness of God to seek to live the best way we can.

CARPE DIEM (Seize the Day)

This day is “opportunity gift wrapped in a few short hours.”

Seize this day with the determination that you are going to make a step towards being the person that you want to be.  You will discover that if you “begin to weave, God will give you the thread.”

                  REMEMBER

        Habits are “trait jackets.”

The good ones have to be cultivated.

        The bad ones grow wild.

For all of us life presents the choice of “more rigor” or “rigor mortis.”  Choose “life as the journey of long obedience” in God’s direction rather than stagnation and death in the blind alley of careless indifference.  

ARE YOUR FEARS MAKING YOU OLD?

“Fears not years, make us old.”

God offers a unique calmness to our hearts.

            This calmness is not detachment from duty and dreams.

            This calmness brings strength that enables us to be steady
             regardless.               

We have the opportunity to associate with the understanding Christ.

In Him there is forgiveness and daily renewal.

            In Christ, there is the power that comes from an enduring faith.

            This faith frees us from the TYRANNY OF DEATH.

Remember, it is not always the greatness of our troubles but often it is the littleness of our spirits that causes us to feel inadequate and weak.

                            Time invested in Bible study produces mental nourishment.
