Francis of Assisi's Prayer

The prayer of Francis of Assisi (1181-1226)

LORD, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O DIVINE MASTER,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

IT WAS...

A DESCRIPTION THAT FITS “OUR DAY”
    (Courtesy of Charles Dickens)

It was the best of times.

It was the worst of times.

It was the age of wisdom.

It was the age of foolishness.

It was the epoch of belief.

It was the epoch of incredibility.

It was the season of Light.

It was the season of Darkness.

It was the spring of Hope.

It was the winter of Despair.

(The recognition that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” provides the sure foundation for us to be winners in our complex world.)
